Morenci varsity softball held off Pima 6-5 at home on Senior Night in a game that stayed tight from first pitch to the final out. Both teams got strong performances in the circle, keeping hitters honest all afternoon.
The Wildcats broke it open when Morenci’s pitcher stepped up and delivered a home run to center field, building on the Lady Cats’ momentum. The Wildcat catcher anchored the defense, managing the game and coming up big in key moments, including tracking down a high foul pop and making the catch at the backstop.
Strong support from the infield and several key catches in the outfield helped shut down scoring threats and helped secure the win.
A fitting result for the Wildcats as they celebrated their seniors under the home lights.
