MORENCI, AZ — The Morenci Wildcats continued their strong season on April 29, overpowering ALA-Anthem South 16-3 in a non-league softball matchup at home.
Morenci’s offense was firing on all cylinders, collecting 13 hits and scoring in nearly every inning. The Wildcats were led by senior J. Hernandez, who went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Junior Tiara Jones also made the most of her opportunities, reaching base throughout the game and adding a home run, three runs scored, and two RBIs.
Several Wildcats contributed multiple hits, including Khloee Kouts, S. Wichmann, K. Madrigal, and Ava Basteen. Wichmann drove in a team-high three runs, while Morenci finished with six doubles and one triple as part of the offensive outburst.
The victory improved Morenci’s season record to 19-9, while ALA-Anthem South fell to 10-15.
